The problem with that race being a distraction on your way is that if I race him it always leads me away from where I was going, so it elongates the non-engaged driving section (I really dislike the empty roads as I drive around). It should've been that you set a waypoint to somewhere you want to go and then you can have a race across the overworld with him, the race is restartable (like a cart racer), and he should drive the same vehicle as whatever you're in. You're driving somewhere whenever you find him so you don't want to race, you have to stop and order a Chazcar or else you're too slow to race, and you can't restart the race if you lose.
